Position Overview: Crew Leader

As the leader of the shift team, the Crew Leader exemplifies team leadership within the McCormick High Performance System (MHPS) framework. The Crew Leader is responsible for the overall performance of a team of 3-4 lines, focusing on safety, quality, process reliability, sanitation, GMPs, and material yield. This role actively promotes continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
The successful candidate will effectively coach, train, and ensure compliance with established procedures (including safety, work rules, and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating respect for the capabilities of all individuals, adhering to McCormick's Shared Values. The Crew Leader must approach their responsibilities with the understanding that the success of the company relies on the contributions of all team members.
- Lead by example, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety and Human Resources policies
- Utilize the McCormick High Performance System (MHPS) to engage team members and foster collaboration
- Plan, direct, and support daily activities to meet goals and business initiatives. Ensure team members are trained for their assigned tasks
- Lead Tier 1 HPO activities to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and defect-free environment
- Identify and eliminate barriers to team performance, demonstrating urgency and ownership in problem resolution
- Facilitate daily team huddles and weekly meetings, maintaining communication with management regarding team performance
- Ensure key performance indicators are met
- Ensure adherence to operational procedures, baselines, and best practices
- Resolve daily issues and coordinate maintenance needs
- Provide input for evaluations and development plans for team members
- Report incidents to HR as necessary
- Conduct on-the-job training for new and existing employees
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support overall plant objectives
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Occasionally perform administrative tasks when required
- Be available for overtime as needed
Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in manufacturing or industrial settings or equivalent education
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of packaging/processing equipment preferred
- Ability to pass Mechanical Aptitude testing
- Valid driver's license required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is a plus
- Understanding of the financial implications of business decisions
- Demonstrated leadership skills with formal training preferred
- Knowledge of packaging/processing equipment and maintenance processes
- Familiarity with SAP or other enterprise resource planning tools
- Ability to operate all equipment in the facility, including Forklifts
