Job Overview and Responsibilities:

Position: Quality Control Supervisor

Company: BWX Technologies, Inc.

We are seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to oversee our quality assurance operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Quality Programs Manager, this role is essential in ensuring that the Quality Control Inspectors, including NDE Technicians, Gauge Lab Technicians, and Incoming Inspection personnel, are properly qualified, certified, and trained. This position is crucial for maintaining the standards required for BWXT Canada products to comply with the company's quality assurance programs, procedures, and customer specifications. Direct reports will include QC shop personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training & Certification:

Organize and conduct training sessions, as well as certification testing and re-certification processes.

Supervision & Scheduling:

Ensure that inspectors operate safely and efficiently, adhering to company safety protocols. Maintain discipline and monitor the performance of team members. Schedule workforce assignments to optimize productivity and manage overtime needs.

Gauge Lab Oversight:

Supervise the operations of the Gauge Lab, coordinating calibrations for master gauges, managing overdue calibration reports, and issuing calibration certificates as necessary.

Evaluation of Inspectors:

Assess the qualifications of internal and external QC inspectors and candidates, ensuring their independence from manufacturing processes related to quality.

Reporting & Documentation:

Develop and maintain comprehensive inspection reports and checklists to facilitate complex inspection activities.

Support for Inspection Processes:

Assist in the inspection process within Operations, issuing deficiency reports and interpreting relevant standards and drawings.

Representation of Quality Control:

Prepare monthly reports for department managers, represent Quality Control in interdepartmental meetings, and participate in Continuous Process Improvement initiatives. Communicate quality issues to manufacturing supervision and department managers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A college diploma is preferred. A Technician/Technologist certificate in a relevant field (Engineering, QC, QA, Welding, NDE) is desirable. A minimum of five years of experience in Quality Control, ideally in a supervisory capacity. Familiarity with fitting, welding, or fabrication processes. Excellent computer and communication skills.
