About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled CATIA Die Designer to join our team at Magna. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating and modifying die layouts and designs for automotive stamping tools.

Your Responsibilities
  • Create and modify die layouts and designs using CATIA software to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Translate design intent into required manufacturing processes to complete die programs.
  • Determine machining processes and define areas of dies to be machined.
  • Provide technical support to FEA Team, Program Management, Tooling, and Sales Departments throughout the die manufacturing process.
  • Maintain documentation records of complete die programs.
  • Prepare reports and communicate required information to appropriate parties.
  • Responsible for applicable QMS policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required and assigned.
  • Responsible for carrying out duties for Health, Safety, and Environment in accordance with the HS&E Agreement for Employees - Addendum.
  • Work with Outsource Design vendors and Source Outside Design vendors.
  • Drive Customer Design reviews.
  • Drive Standard changes.
  • Drive Pre-manufacturing review.
  • Release All Designs for Manufacturing.
  • Check Die Designs from external Vendors.
  • Design dies internally when required.
  • Prepare packaging studies for quote stage.
  • Work on all Design related issues raised by the Re-work System.
  • Drive ongoing Improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Completion of degree or certificate program in Technical/Mechanical Engineering Program or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of automotive sheet metal stamping.
  • Full working knowledge of die-surfacing using CATIA, or equivalent software.
  • Knowledge of CAM, CNC machining, and die making methods an asset.
  • Experience in reverse engineering from scan meshes (STL data) considered an asset.
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints or die process & solid designs required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Orientation, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher Training, Smirtware, Tebis, 5S, QEMS, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Awareness training (see EMS training matrix).
