The Registration Clerk is a key member of the Health Information Services team at Southern Health-Santé Sud. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient collection of patient information, while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and verify patient information in accordance with provincial best practices
- Provide effective communication and reception services to patients and staff
- Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information
- Work collaboratively with the Health Information Services team to support the functions of the department
- Exercise independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program
- Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course
- Recent experience in a patient reception/care area, preferably in a registration role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and other healthcare-related legislation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email
- Accurate keyboarding/typing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
The successful candidate will be required to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Adult Abuse Registry Check. A valid Class 5 driver's license and liability insurance are also required.
