About the Role:

As a Paramedic with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in providing emergency medical services to the community. You will assess emergency scenes and patients, and may transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treat patients by administering medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy.
  • Lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes.
  • Assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles are properly stocked and equipped.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Advanced Care Paramedic program.
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, Siren, as well as experience working with health databases such as Meditech or Netcare.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with completion of courses related to communication strategy.
  • Strong understanding of accountability with completion of courses such as Art of Accountability.
  • Strong understanding of Goals of Care/Advanced Planning.
  • Experience developing or working with new EMS and/or AHS initiatives.
  • Experience working independently that demonstrates strong time management skills and self-motivation.
