The Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Ancient and/or Asian philosophy.
Position Title: Assistant Professor, with the possibility of higher ranks under exceptional circumstances.
Responsibilities:
- Engaging in active research and knowledge dissemination.
- Delivering instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Overseeing the recruitment and mentorship of graduate students.
- Contributing to community service and departmental activities.
Key Duties Include:
- Developing and maintaining a research agenda in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy, leading to scholarly publications and securing research funding.
- Teaching courses in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy in both French and English.
- Recruiting and mentoring graduate students.
- Collaborating on research initiatives and participating in university service.
- Engaging in administrative responsibilities within the department and contributing to the wider university community.
Position Type: Tenure-track
Compensation: The salary scale for the assistant professor rank begins at $94,588.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
- A proven record of scholarly excellence in Ancient and/or Asian Philosophy.
- Evidence of an innovative research program, including publications and conference presentations.
- A demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
- Experience or training in university-level teaching.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research and teaching.
