Role Summary

Reporting to the AVP of Competitive Intelligence & Insights, the Director of Competitive Intelligence & Insights for Investment Markets & Institutional plays a crucial role in helping Manulife sustain its competitive edge and foster growth within the Institutional channel and Investment Markets sector. As a key member of the GWAM strategy team, this position serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing essential market and competitor insights to inform strategic planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret global market and competitor data to deliver actionable insights that support strategic planning and decision-making for the Institutional channel and Investment Markets.
  • Actively monitor industry trends, competitive actions, and market changes to identify potential opportunities and risks within the competitive landscape.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive intelligence informs critical business decisions.
  • Align industry and competitor intelligence with Manulife's internal strategies to provide relevant insights to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Identify opportunities for synergy between Institutional channel and Investment Markets intelligence to enhance the effectiveness of data and research initiatives.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive competitive intelligence reports to key stakeholders and executive teams.
  • Recommend enhancements to data sources and quality to improve intelligence capabilities.
  • Collaborate with offshore shared services to optimize data collection and analysis processes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in competitive intelligence within the financial services sector, with a strong focus on the Institutional channel and Investment Markets.
  • Relevant professional designations (MBA, CPA, CFA) are advantageous.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical skills with a knack for identifying patterns and trends.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving towards solutions.
  • Results-driven, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a talent for conveying complex insights clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to independently source relevant information and work collaboratively across teams.
