About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our rehabilitation team. As a key member of our inter-professional care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
  • Perform tasks delegated by a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse, in compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, for which appropriate education and training has been completed.
  • Communicate and demonstrate basic information in accordance with a patient's pre-established Plan of Care.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by reporting and documenting unsafe conditions, such as broken equipment, and any patient behavioral, physical, or cognitive changes.
  • Complete and maintain related patient records and progress notes, as per hospital policy.
Requirements
  • Education: Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker program from an accredited community college.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
  • Behavioral management training, such as PIECES or U-First, is considered an asset.
  • Ability to handle daily mild to moderate physical exertion, including constant standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and frequent movement.
  • Acute care and/or previous rehabilitation experience is considered an asset.
  • Good attendance record is required.
