Role Overview
The Director of Core Payment Products is integral to Payments Canada, focusing on the continuous management and enhancement of existing payment systems and services, including ACSS and Lynx, along with any future core capabilities. This position oversees the entire product lifecycle post-launch, ensuring that our offerings remain functional, competitive, and aligned with industry requirements. Your leadership will be essential in driving ongoing improvements and ensuring our core payment capabilities adapt to changing market demands, while collaborating closely with various internal and external stakeholders to meet organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy Development: Formulating and implementing comprehensive product strategies, defining product vision and roadmap in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Overseeing strategic planning efforts, providing insights and recommendations for core payment products to fulfill organizational goals.
  • Lifecycle Management: Managing the transition of products from development to post-launch, and driving the subsequent product lifecycle, including enhancements and ongoing improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivating and maintaining relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure product success and alignment with market needs.
  • Team Leadership: Promoting professional development within the team, aligning objectives with organizational goals, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Performance Monitoring: Actively tracking stakeholder impacts and opportunities, ensuring products remain competitive and relevant.
  • External Representation: Representing the organization at industry events and committees, enhancing its reputation and influence within the payments ecosystem.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, or a related field;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in product management within the payments or financial services sector;
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a leadership role;
  • Experience in product management within a government or non-profit organization is advantageous;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payment systems and trends in both domestic and international payments;
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and financial market risk principles within the payments ecosystem;
  • Experience managing stakeholders within a financial institution and/or multiple external stakeholders affected by payment networks;
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment;
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the capability to develop and execute product strategies aligned with organizational objectives;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively;
  • Eligibility for Government of Canada Reliability clearance.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset;
