Position Overview:
The Lead Financial Analyst will report to the Director of Accounting Canada. This remote position will involve participation in monthly team meetings. Key responsibilities include overseeing the affiliate netting system for the Canadian operations and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of sales and use tax reporting. This role is responsible for conducting routine financial analyses as well as analyses for special projects. The Analyst will maintain extensive communication with peers worldwide and establish connections with financial personnel across Belden to ensure the flow of information necessary to fulfill primary job responsibilities. The incumbent will ensure that the information utilized is the most timely and accurate available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly audit sub-system entries to uphold the accuracy of General Ledger (GL) feeder systems.
- Prepare and enter all intercompany advices and invoices (both payables and receivables) and reconcile sub-ledger and general ledger balances.
- Compile weekly and monthly inter-company netting payments and coordinate with affiliates.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including affiliate accounts and the revaluation component of accounts payable.
- Assist in preparing the annual tax package for corporate tax auditors.
- Generate monthly balance sheet revaluation entries and related reports.
- Prepare weekly currency position reports and forecasts.
- Facilitate the monthly affiliate forecast reconciliation process.
- Reconcile Richmond advice listings with the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
- Serve as a backup to the Senior Financial Analyst responsible for bank reconciliations and training revenues.
- Ensure the integrity of sales and use taxes recorded in the GL.
- Verify the accuracy of taxes on invoices and ensure that claimed input taxes are correct.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to rectify any recurring ITC errors.
- Monitor sales and use taxes charged and claimed at least weekly.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit payment vouchers and file sales & use taxes as required by government authorities.
- Assist in preparing annual UPC lag studies with support from the Senior Financial Analyst.
- Participate in the implementation of SAP S/4 Hana, including special projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
- Experience with GAAP and SOX controls is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a publicly traded company is preferred, ideally within a manufacturing context.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail; accuracy in data entry within a high-volume environment.
