About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services to provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to patients/clients. You will work in collaboration with the client, caregivers, and family to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to patients/clients
  • Work in collaboration with the client, caregivers, and family to develop individualized treatment plans and goals
  • Manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
  • Function as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team
  • Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and to supervision of OT Assistants
  • Adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
