About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Seniors LINCS team, working under the supervision of the Manager of Seniors Western Zone. This position involves collaborating with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up to maximize patient function and independence. Additionally, they may provide clinical support to Geriatricians and other physicians in the ambulatory care setting. The Occupational Therapist establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize daily tasks. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this role. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and supervises the work of Rehabilitation Assistants. They are responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and the professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. The hourly rate is $33.97 - $42.89, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
