Position Overview

This role is responsible for directing the agricultural innovation initiatives across designated markets. The individual will supervise the agricultural innovation team, guiding them in fostering demand for Ag Innovation services while ensuring customer satisfaction and positive user experiences. This position is pivotal in leading a team dedicated to establishing Simplot Grower Solutions as a frontrunner in equipment and digital technology relevant to production agriculture, appealing to farm customers who prioritize technology in their farm management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Ag Innovation Leadership and Coaching

  • Collaborate closely with the Ag Innovation Manager to develop all precision agriculture platforms for Simplot Grower Solutions.
  • Create an Ag Innovation training framework for the Area team.
  • Oversee comprehensive training for all Ag Innovation Specialists and Advisors, in partnership with other Ag Innovation Leads and the Ag Innovation Manager.
  • Work alongside the Ag Innovation Manager to formulate and supervise precision agriculture planning protocols for Ag Innovation Specialists and Advisors.
  • Ensure ongoing skill enhancement for all area Ag Innovation team members.
  • Foster confidence and proficiency in technical skills while sharing best practices across the entire ag innovation team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, transferring this knowledge to the ag innovation team, Simplot personnel, and customers.
  • Attract high-quality Ag Innovation team members to Simplot Grower Solutions.
  • Engage with the agricultural industry and community professionally to maintain Simplot Grower Solutions' leadership presence in the market.

Sales Territory Leadership

  • Collaborate with sales representatives to deliver suitable Ag Innovation solutions to farm customers within the territory.
  • Partner with the Ag Innovation Manager to enhance, refine, and evaluate both existing Ag Innovation services and potential new offerings in the territory.
  • Support promotion and training initiatives for services directed at farmers and sales representatives.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of Ag Innovation and industry technologies.
  • Integrate Ag Innovation services into annual customer plans in collaboration with sales representatives.
  • Participate in planning meetings with sales representatives regarding key customers.
  • Contribute to the sales process by ensuring sellers gather essential information during customer discovery to assist in Ag Innovation planning.
  • Develop a 3-6 month action plan with guidance from the Ag Innovation Manager.

Field Services Support

  • Conduct consultations, data entry, and administration for Field Moisture Service with customers in the territory.
  • Perform installations, technical support, maintenance, and removal of equipment for Field Moisture Service for customers in the territory.

SprayConnect and SoilConnect Support

  • Administer and prepare SprayConnect projects for customers in the territory.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives for ground truthing, prescription loading, and technical support for customers.
  • Assist with all SoilConnect soil sampling procedures as required.
  • Conduct ground truthing, SWAT mapping, and data preparation.
  • Consult and plan SoilConnect projects with sales representatives for customers in the territory.
  • Execute prescription loading, technical support, data processing, and entry for customers.
  • Conduct in-season agronomic evaluations and field monitoring for customers in the territory.

Agronomy and Sales Support

  • Develop and enhance expertise in agronomy.
  • Attend training sessions focused on agronomy and sales.
  • Support agronomy and sales functions as needed, including products and services beyond Ag Innovation.
  • Assist with research and trial initiatives related to Ag Innovation.

Data and Digital Tools Development

  • Assist in the development of hardware, software, and data tools to support sales representatives as requested by the Ag Innovation Manager.

Industry Relations

  • Establish and maintain robust relationships and a broad industry network.
  • Communicate with designated representatives from manufacturers and distributors.
  • Continuously learn and update knowledge of new products and updates in chemicals, fertilizers, and seeds as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key industry personnel and competitors.

Team Collaboration

  • Actively support and contribute to the communities served.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the workplace.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all customers, staff, suppliers, and business operations.
  • Familiarize with the employee handbook and adhere to company values.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Agronomy; leadership experience is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Degree or Diploma in Agriculture.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Familiarity with application equipment and willingness to connect with industry experts for support.
  • Knowledge of production practices in West Central Saskatchewan.

  • Manual dexterity required for using desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required in the agri-industry.
