Property Large Loss Claims Consultant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Resolution Specialist to join our Property Large Loss team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling complex claims, providing expert advice, and ensuring seamless resolution of large and complex commercial property claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and investigate large and complex commercial property claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including counsel, consultants, adjusters, and engineers, to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
- Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long-term succession planning.
- Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice to ensure best practices.
- Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
- Provide exceptional customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues.
- Deliver and exceed on key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.
- Leverage expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations.
- Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate and attend settlement conferences and trials.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
- Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
- Flexible to travel as needed.
