Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology is actively seeking MTO Approved and Licensed Driver's Education Instructors to join our Northern Training Division. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written, and demonstrate adaptability, punctuality, and patience. Completion of the MTO approved basic classroom instructor course is advantageous.

Reporting to the Manager of Community and Business Development, the successful candidate will deliver quality training tailored to each student's pace, availability, and learning preferences. The instructor will guide students in acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to become safe drivers through practical in-car instruction. Depending on qualifications, the instructor may also conduct classroom and online sessions. Northern College will supply the vehicle, fuel, and insurance required for training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver thorough in-car driving instruction with a focus on safe practices and compliance with traffic regulations;
  • Customize instruction to address the unique needs of students, promoting responsible and skilled driving;
  • Encourage a commitment to defensive driving and safety;
  • Depending on qualifications, may also:
  • Provide classroom instruction covering theoretical driving concepts, including road signs and regulations;
  • Conduct progress evaluations, assessing student advancement and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications Required:

  • MTO approved driving instructor course;
  • MTO approved in-vehicle instructor course;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience holding a class G driver's license.
