Overview

The Veterinary Talent Acquisition Specialist will utilize their extensive knowledge of the veterinary sector to significantly contribute to Practice Care Centre's ambitious growth strategy aimed at establishing itself as a prominent entity in veterinary medicine across Canada. Collaborating closely with Operations team members and the broader Talent Acquisition team, the Specialist will concentrate on developing a national network of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) contacts, managing a talent pipeline, executing a campus recruitment initiative, and fostering relationships while upholding a service-oriented approach that aligns with Practice Care Centre's commitment to a people-first culture and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Regional and Practice Managers throughout the DVM hiring process, which includes reviewing applications, conducting preliminary interviews, compiling candidate recommendations, scheduling interviews, and finalizing offers.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of our database, focusing on the quality and quantity of records related to DVMs and their contact details.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Manager to implement a campus recruitment strategy targeting DVM programs nationwide.
  • Engage with the Talent Acquisition team to attend and potentially contribute to significant professional conferences and industry events to broaden our network and elevate Practice Care Centre's visibility in the marketplace.
  • Explore innovative channels for attracting candidates through DVM communities, including social media platforms and professional networking sites.
  • Develop and execute an outreach strategy for each DVM job posting, strategically targeting individuals within the relevant geographic area.
  • Maximize the potential of the Find'Em tool by creating projects for each vacancy alongside our Talent Acquisition Specialists, and expanding our social media outreach while capturing comprehensive contact information for our database.
  • Devise and implement creative strategies to engage our target audience of DVMs, collaborating with marketing and the Talent Acquisition team to organize and participate in recruitment events.
  • Become an expert on DVM-related market trends and issues, including current compensation trends and competitor insights.
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for Practice Care Centre at external events.

Position Requirements

  • The ideal candidate is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Practice Manager (PM), or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with clinical experience who has transitioned into a corporate role in sales, operations, or recruitment. A proven ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and navigate challenges professionally and diplomatically is essential, with a focus on enhancing success rates and maintaining forward momentum in processes.
  • Experience with CRM databases is considered an asset.
  • The candidate should seamlessly integrate into the team and be motivated by contributing to the success of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while managing multiple detail-oriented tasks is crucial.
  • A natural curiosity for learning and a commitment to exceptional customer service, coupled with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, are important traits.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic organization with a hands-on, self-starting culture is required.
