About the Role:

Eagle Builders is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Onsite Safety Advisor/First Aid Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors on our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide First Aid and Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as per WorkSafe BC legislation.
  • Conduct Site Inspections and Hazard Assessments: Identify and mitigate potential hazards on the worksite, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Supervise and Train Workers: Supervise and train workers on safety procedures, ensuring they understand and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Investigate Incidents and Near-Misses: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain Safety Records and Reports: Accurately maintain safety records and reports, including incident reports, hazard assessments, and training records.
  • Collaborate with Site Supervisors and Safety Managers: Work closely with site supervisors and safety managers to ensure a cohesive and effective safety program.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Safety Regulations: Stay current with changing safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant and ahead of the curve.

Requirements:

  • OFA Level 2 First Aid Certification: Possess a valid OFA Level 2 first aid certification.
  • Valid Class 5 License and Reliable Transportation: Hold a valid Class 5 license and have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Availability to Work Flexible Hours: Be available to work flexible hours, including occasional Saturdays.
  • Minimum 44 Hours per Week: Be willing to work a minimum of 44 hours per week, with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Local to the Merrit Area: Be local to the Merrit area, with a reliable means of communication.
  • Proficient in English Communication: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to Maintain Effective Work Relationships: Demonstrate the ability to maintain effective work relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Outstanding Organizational Skills: Possess outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WHMIS 2015: Possess knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WHMIS 2015 regulations and industry best practices.
  • General Construction Knowledge: Have a solid understanding of general construction principles and practices.
