Materials Failure Specialist

Position Overview
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the claims department to effectively address equipment malfunctions, product challenges, and chemical contamination issues.
- Work alongside both internal and external specialists, evaluators, and construction professionals.
- Apply your knowledge in material analysis and fractography techniques.
- Conduct thorough investigations to identify the underlying causes of failures through scientific research.
- Perform on-site assessments to document damages and gather pertinent samples.
- Oversee laboratory samples and related activities.
- Engage with insured parties to comprehend the context of their claims.
- Document findings and provide expert assessments regarding probable damage causes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across various regions.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or chemistry, or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in material failure analysis or characterization.
- Familiarity with material characterization instruments such as electron and optical microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy.
- A solid understanding of corrosion processes.
- Experience in the insurance sector and as an expert witness in legal proceedings is advantageous.
- Registered member of a relevant professional organization.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
- Ability to innovate, adapt, and work collaboratively to meet objectives.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
