About the Role

This is a key leadership position within Sun Life, reporting to the AVP, Pricing & Inforce Management. The Director of Pricing and Product Development will play a critical role in supporting the strategic pricing and product development of Sun Life products to drive growth objectives while balancing the interests of key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product teams to design and develop new product initiatives that meet business objectives.
  • Pricing of new product initiatives, ensuring compliance with all risk management policies and procedures.
  • Use actuarial models for deterministic or stochastic analysis to ensure products meet internal profitability requirements.
  • Provide actuarial and product expertise to key business partners and senior management by presenting results clearly and accurately.
  • Guide modeling and product development processes for other actuarial team members.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, including colleagues from varied backgrounds.
  • Ensure work is compliant with internal Governance requirements, such as PD&P and MEUC.
  • Exhibit leadership by understanding and supporting ever-changing priorities to align with broader business objectives and strategic goals.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant actuarial work experience.
  • FSA, FCIA, FIA, or equivalent career experience.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to present complex concepts to all audiences.
  • Ability to interface with various business partners across geographic locations.
  • Able to work independently as part of a cross-geographical team.
  • Strong commitment to client service, with flexibility to accommodate international business hours.
Preferred Skills
  • Conversational expertise in variance insurance product design and modeling.
  • Innovative mindset and ability to lead multiple initiatives.
  • Modeling experience with Pathwise.
  • Prior experience leading and managing complex projects.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
