The Senior Maintenance Technician at Fogo Island Inn will be responsible for a range of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the facility. This role requires a proactive and positive attitude while working in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the daily functionality of the Inn's facility systems, including water treatment, heating systems, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment.
  • Completing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks promptly.
  • Maintaining an adequate and updated inventory of spare parts.
  • Promoting a culture of cleanliness and organization within the maintenance team and among contractors.
  • Encouraging engagement and continuous development, mentoring junior staff to align with operational goals.
  • Updating maintenance activity records in Excel as necessary.
  • Coordinating daily tasks and receiving assignments from the Maintenance Team Lead.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the Building Automation System software.
  • Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Preparing standard operating procedures for equipment and machinery.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring uniforms are well-kept.
  • Collaborating effectively with all team members.
  • Availability to work weekends, shifts, and overtime as required.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Possession of a 2nd or 3rd Class Power Engineering designation or equivalent from any Canadian Province.
  • A valid Canadian driver's license is mandatory.
  • Accreditations in other trades are considered advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to keep all departments informed of maintenance issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • A positive, energetic, and ambitious demeanor.
  • Organized with a focus on excellence.
  • A team-oriented approach with a willingness to take initiative.
  • A genuine passion for small communities.
  • Eligibility to work legally in Canada.
