Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team at Volker Stevin Highways. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our highway network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including snowplows, graders, and excavators, to perform maintenance and repair tasks on our highway network.
  • Perform labor-intensive duties, such as clearing snow and ice, repairing road surfaces, and maintaining traffic control devices.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working condition and report any defects or issues to management.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, often in extreme weather conditions, and be able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 (preferred) or Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement.
  • Clean and valid driver's abstract.
  • Experience in snowplow operation - minimum 50 hours behind the wheel.
  • Experience and aptitude for operation and minor maintenance of light, medium, and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate (preferred).
