Job Description

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and organized Receptionist to provide exceptional administrative support to our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a warm and welcoming experience for visitors and callers, ensuring a professional and efficient reception service.
  • Manage office duties with precision, including filing, photocopying, and sending/receiving mail and faxes.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with The Salvation Army's principles, standards, and policies.
  • Prepare and type correspondence, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment, and arrange for maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with special projects, such as counting Kettle income and preparing mail outs during the Christmas season.
Financial and Administrative:
  • Receive, record, and store donations in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
  • Process temporary tax receipts as applicable.
  • Submit monthly statistics via SAMIS in a timely and accurate manner.
Health and Safety:

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations, and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:
  • This is a permanent part-time position based on 20 hours per week.
  • Some flexibility in scheduling is required, with occasional weekend and evening work.
  • The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
  • Working environment is typically in the office, with generally agreeable conditions.
Qualifications and Education:
  • Completed up to 2 years of Community College, with a Business Administration Certificate preferred.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience, including administrative experience.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to work independently.
