About the Role:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides patient care services as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Under the close supervision of the Patient Care Manager/Unit Manager or designate, the HCA is responsible for assisting the patients with their activities of daily living to facilitate comfort, safety and general well-being; and assisting in maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients through the application of universal precautions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal care and hygiene
  • Support patients with mobility, nutrition, and recreation needs
  • Observe and report on patient mood, health, and wellbeing
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Requirements:

  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
  • Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory
  • Computer skills are preferred
