About the Role:
The Health Care Assistant provides patient care services as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Under the close supervision of the Patient Care Manager/Unit Manager or designate, the Health Care Assistant is responsible for assisting patients with their activities of daily living to facilitate comfort, safety, and general well-being; and assisting in maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients through the application of universal precautions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility, and nutrition
- Support patients with organized activities or programs
- Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
- Communicate effectively with patients and health professionals
Requirements:
- Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory
- Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum may be considered
