About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Carol Lake Metal Works Ltd. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, ensuring that all work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Keep accurate maintenance reports and documentation, including records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Perform welding and other maintenance work as required.
  • Service attachments and working tools, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Verify and repair emission control systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks, including brake and suspension repairs.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 5 years or more of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold and refrigerated environments.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Steel-toed safety boots and other personal protective equipment required.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Welding experience and certification.
  • Experience with computerized testing equipment.
