Developmental Intern

This is an exciting opportunity for a Developmental Intern to join the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) team. As a Developmental Intern, you will have the chance to work closely with engineers and other technical staff to gain hands-on experience in managing engineering deliverables and preparing manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in Deliverable Management: Collaborate with engineers to manage engineering deliverables prepared by them or their design contractors in Teamcenter configuration management system.
- Design Drawing Preparation: Work closely with engineers to prepare manufacturing/fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD from preliminary and conceptual sketches and 3-D models.
- Document Issuance: Assist document authors in issuing (releasing) engineering deliverables that have successfully completed the design verification process.
- Quality Assurance: Perform QA reviews on engineering deliverables produced by in-house engineering staff and those produced by external design vendors.
- Process Development: Create new and edit existing design management and engineering change control governance which includes procedures and instruction documents.
- Documentation Editing: Edit documentation for clarity without changing key information.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research on the specified area of topic and interview professionals and subject matter experts to gain a deeper understanding of the topic being written about.
- Process Mapping: Analyze requirements and review existing governance documents to develop process block diagrams and logic flowchart, to translate detailed text information into easy-to-follow pictorial representations.
- Education: Currently enrolled in the third or fourth year of a Bachelor's Degree program of engineering with a focus on Nuclear, Mechanical, Physics / Mathematical Engineering with Mechanical option.
- Technical Skills: Experience in development and review of technical deliverables and technical report writing is considered as an asset. Experience working with CAD platforms like SolidWorks and AutoCAD is considered as an asset. High level knowledge of design management process and engineering change control process is considered as an asset.
- Soft Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint is required. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Committed team player, quick learner and ability to work independently.
