Role Overview

As a Home Support Worker, you will embark on a fulfilling career that allows you to forge meaningful connections with patients and their families, significantly enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with essential personal care and supporting them in daily living activities, enabling them to remain in their homes while providing relief to caregivers and family members who are managing the challenges of caring for elderly loved ones. As a valued member of Spectrum, you will ensure our patients receive exceptional care and support.

  • Deliver essential personal care for medically stable patients under the guidance of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Aid patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, toileting, skincare, and social interaction.
  • Carry out basic meal preparation and light housekeeping tasks, such as washing dishes, taking out the trash, and doing laundry. Cleaning and tidying the patient's immediate living area may also be necessary.
  • Provide temporary relief for medically stable patients while their primary caregiver is away from home.
  • Stay informed about the patient's capabilities, current medical diagnoses, dietary needs, personal interests, and special requirements.
  • Travel within the designated region to visit patients' homes or facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Supportive Care Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate, or the first term of a PSW program.
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Test (conducted within the last six months) are prerequisites for employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage with others in a caring, respectful, and courteous manner.
