Role Overview

As a Home Support Worker, you will engage in a fulfilling career that allows you to foster meaningful connections with patients and their families, making a significant impact on their lives. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with essential personal care and supporting them in daily living activities, enabling them to remain in their homes while providing caregivers and family members with much-needed respite. As a valued member of Spectrum, you will deliver the highest standard of care and support to our patients.

  • Deliver essential personal care for medically stable patients under the guidance of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Aid patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, toileting, skin care, and social interaction.
  • Carry out basic meal preparation and light housekeeping tasks, such as washing dishes, taking out the trash, and doing laundry. Cleaning within the patient's immediate living area may also be necessary.
  • Provide respite care for medically stable patients while their primary caregiver is away.
  • Stay informed about patients' abilities, current medical diagnoses, dietary needs, personal interests, and special requirements.
  • Travel within the designated region to visit patients' homes or facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Supportive Care Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate, or the first term of a PSW program.
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Test (within the last six months) are required for employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage with others in a compassionate, respectful, and courteous manner.
