Role Overview

As a Home Support Worker, you will embark on a fulfilling career that allows you to foster meaningful connections with patients and their families, significantly enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with essential personal care and supporting them in daily living activities, enabling them to remain in their homes while providing relief to caregivers and family members.

  • Deliver basic personal care to medically stable patients under the guidance of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Aid patients with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, skincare, and social engagement.
  • Conduct basic meal preparation and light housekeeping tasks, including dishwashing, garbage disposal, and laundry. Cleaning within the patient's immediate living area may also be necessary.
  • Offer respite care for medically stable patients while their primary caregiver is away.
  • Stay informed about the patient's abilities, current medical diagnoses, dietary needs, personal interests, and special requirements.
  • Travel within the designated region to visit patients' homes or facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Supportive Care Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate, or at least Term 1 of a PSW program.
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Test (within the last six months) are prerequisites for employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage with others in a caring, respectful, and courteous manner.
