About the Role:

The Universal Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traffic Operations Manager to join our team. As an Area Operations Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the overall coordination and implementation of high-quality traffic control services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Implement Traffic Control Services: Maintain traffic control operations, ensure productivity, efficiency, safety, and supervise field staff.
  • Client Relationship Management: Collaborate with the General Manager (GM), Dispatch, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to coordinate schedules, distribute work efficiently, and address relief needs.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and direct traffic employees in the Dispatch, Fleet, and for site requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure field staff comply with regulations, company standards, and policies through education and training.
  • Client and Employee Support: Address the portfolio of clients assigned to them and employee inquiries via phone and email, including staffing, safety concerns, and complaints.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate and address complaints from clients, the public, and employees, reporting major incidents.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with Fleet and Facilities departments to maintain proper inventory and supply of fleet vehicles for new LCTs.
  • Staff Utilization Analysis: Analyze field staff utilization and address non-supply issues.
  • Manpower Forecasting: Assist HR and GM with manpower forecasting, planning, and deployment.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Work with HR on recruiting, retention, labor relations, and compliance with collective agreements.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in collaboration with OHS.
  • Reporting and Site Visits: Unique reporting for assigned client groups and site visits for contractor consultations.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Previous Experience: Previous traffic control experience is considered an asset.
  • Management Experience: Minimum 2 years construction management experience required.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Conduct and Performance Issues: Experience in addressing conduct and performance issues with geographically dispersed field employees.
  • Safety Regulations: Well versed in all safety regulations as it relates to traffic management, its service, and facility.
  • Certifications: Valid WorkSafeBC Traffic Control Person ticket considered an asset.
