About the Opportunity:
The successful Server will be a key member of our team, providing exceptional hospitality to our guests and ensuring a memorable dining experience. This role requires a high level of technical competence in serving food and beverages, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive dining experience for all guests.
- Serve food and beverages in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Accurately take orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system, following all recipes and menu guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas and service stations.
- Participate in the celebration and entertainment experience of the guest, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Set up and break down dining room and service stations as prescribed, ensuring all equipment and furniture are in good working order.
- Accurately collect payment from guests for purchases, issue change, and receipt as required.
- Provide information to guests regarding food and beverage menu descriptions, daily features, and common allergies.
- Be aware of vessel schedule, embarkment periods, local attractions, and upcoming events to prepare for peak dining periods.
- Assist in routine cleaning of dining room/patio, including daily cleaning of equipment, preparation stations, stock rooms, staff areas, and staff washrooms.
- Responsible for knowing, understanding, and practicing all City Cruises Gananoque policies and procedures.
- Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time and maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
- Assist with the warm and efficient greeting and seating of guests when they arrive.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- One (1) year experience in high volume restaurant preferred.
- Responsible alcohol service requirements - Smart Serve Certification required.
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential.
- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers.
- Must possess a service orientation - actively looking for ways to help others.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Will work for extended periods without sitting.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 40 lbs (18 kgs).
- Will be required to be available for work on all major holidays and weekends.
- If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection).
