Disability Support Worker, Full-Time

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Professional to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals and living independently.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and support individuals in developing and achieving personal goals, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Ensure individuals' basic needs are met, including hygiene, personal care, life skills, and social/occupational skills.
- Observe and document physical, developmental, and psychological needs of individuals in service, providing accurate and timely information to support planning and decision-making.
- Assist with day-to-day operations and maintenance of the residence/program facility, including food preparation, cleaning, and supporting individuals with daily tasks.
- Participate in and support planning, safe transportation, and socialization of individuals to vocational, recreational, and leisure activities, promoting community integration and social interaction.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of individual service plans, program-specific policies, and procedures, ensuring a high level of quality and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain skills and knowledge in human practice fields, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
- Communicate and document information related to program changes and service recipient changes to peers, ministry representatives, and other stakeholders as required.
- Mandatory: One (1) year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Minimum Grade 12 or Diploma/Degree in Disabilities Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, or equivalent.
- Mandatory: A valid Class 5 Driver License with a clear driving abstract and reliable transportation.
- Clear criminal record check and social services involvement check.
- A positive attitude and belief in the rights and responsibilities of individuals with disabilities to define and pursue their life choices.
- Skills in assisting individuals with anger management, daily living, self-help, and other areas of support.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures, and Behavioural Strategies training.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety rules and guidelines for personal health and safety.
