Position Overview

The role of the Food Service Shift Supervisor involves overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient service and high-quality food preparation. This is a permanent position requiring a commitment of 40 to 50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule Management: Develop and implement strategies to meet operational timelines.
  • Inventory Control: Order and manage food and kitchen supplies effectively.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff engaged in food preparation and portioning.
  • Training: Educate team members on their responsibilities, hygiene practices, and safety protocols.
  • Resource Estimation: Calculate necessary ingredients and supplies for meal preparation.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that food and service adhere to established quality standards.
  • Customer Relations: Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory, repairs, sales, and waste.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit necessary reports to management.
  • Order Preparation: Compile food order summaries for the chef.
  • Culinary Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of the culinary styles relevant to the establishment.
  • Tray Assembly Oversight: Supervise the assembly of meal trays.

Work Environment

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 months experience in a similar role or equivalent experience.
