Job Title: Infection Control Support Associate

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Control Support Associate to join our team at Concordia Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating site adherence to provincial and regional IP&C policies, procedures, and operational directives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor site adherence to provincial and regional IP&C policies, procedures, and operational directives.
  • Direct staff and oversee timely implementation of recommended IP&C measures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with site management and regional IP&C leadership regarding IP&C issues.
  • Ensure compliance with established provincial and regional infection control surveillance in LTC.
  • Provide IP&C guidance on routine practices, additional precautions, sterilization, disinfection, and cleaning processes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a clinical healthcare setting or experience and training in microbiology and infectious diseases, epidemiology, or diagnostics.
  • Previous work experience in IP&C is preferred.

Education and Certification:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field with a focus on direct clinical care, microbiology, epidemiology, or public health.
  • Completion of an IPAC Canada-endorsed Infection Prevention and Control Course is required.
  • Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Incorporated is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Contact with the public, patients/residents/clients, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Depending on site/organization, may be required to provide IP&C services at multiple sites or provide cross-coverage for IP&C colleagues.
  • May encounter individuals with aggressive behavior.

Security Clearance:

A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are required as conditions of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
