Water Fitness Instructor

Position Overview:
The Aquafit Instructor is responsible for designing and implementing engaging and safe aquatic fitness programs in line with the standards set by the certifying organization and adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization. This role focuses on educating participants about fitness and safety while fostering a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all attendees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize necessary equipment and materials prior to and following each session.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for both new and returning participants.
- Conduct safe and effective fitness classes that promote a supportive exercising environment, helping clients achieve their aquatic fitness objectives.
- Demonstrate various skills and incorporate a range of progressive exercises suitable for all fitness levels.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and innovative class formats.
- Ensure classes start and end punctually, including adequate warm-up, workout, stretching, and cool-down periods.
- Guide participants on effective workout techniques; demonstrate exercises, clarify muscle groups involved, and teach methods to strengthen specific areas.
- Possess knowledge of aquatic fitness teaching strategies, including the use of music, tempo, cueing techniques, and rhythm.
- Be knowledgeable about the facility's emergency protocols and understand your role in emergency situations.
- Be ready to assist in case of emergencies.
- Contribute to a motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic work culture.
- Exhibit self-motivation and reliability as a team player.
- Promote safe and enjoyable experiences for participants and guests through excellent customer service.
- Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity.
- Complete incident reports promptly following any accidents or incidents.
- Adhere to all relevant facility, aquatic, and municipal policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, to maintain a safe and clean aquatic environment.
- Communicate effectively with patrons and guests, as well as with other staff members, through various channels including face-to-face interactions, phone calls, and written communications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Customer Engagement:
- Welcome guests upon their arrival at the facility.
- Assist patrons by providing directions, answering questions, and reminding them of facility protocols.
Qualifications:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (valid for three years).
- CALA and/or WaterArt certification.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance (issued within the last two years).
- A professional demeanor with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of safety.

Compensation: $30.76 per hour
Work Schedule: Up to 24 hours per week
