Overview:

The Aquatic Fitness Instructor is responsible for designing and implementing safe and enjoyable fitness sessions in alignment with the standards set by the certifying organization, as well as adhering to corporate and departmental protocols. This role involves educating participants on fitness practices and ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for all attendees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize necessary equipment and materials prior to and following each session.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for both new and returning participants.
  • Conduct engaging and effective fitness classes that promote a positive exercise experience and help participants meet their aquatic fitness objectives.
  • Showcase a variety of progressive exercises suitable for all fitness levels, ensuring inclusivity.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and innovative class formats.
  • Adhere to scheduled class times, ensuring adequate warm-up, workout, stretching, and cool-down periods.
  • Instruct participants on effective workout techniques, demonstrating exercises, identifying muscle groups, and teaching methods to strengthen specific areas.
  • Possess knowledge of aquatic fitness teaching strategies, including the use of music, tempo, cueing techniques, and rhythm.
  • Be knowledgeable about the facility's emergency protocols and be prepared to act in case of an emergency.
  • Contribute to a motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic workplace culture.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and reliability as a team player.
  • Promote safe and enjoyable experiences for all participants and guests through exceptional customer service.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity.
  • Complete incident reports promptly following any accidents or incidents.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant facility, aquatic, and municipal policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patrons and other staff members through various channels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Customer Service:

  • Welcome guests upon their arrival at the facility.
  • Assist patrons by providing directions, answering questions, and reminding them of pre-class protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (valid for three years).
  • CALA and/or WaterArt certification required.
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance (valid for two years).
  • A professional demeanor with a strong service-oriented mindset.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of safety.

  1. Head Guard
  2. Recreation Assistant Lead
  3. Aquatics Coordinator
  4. Aquatics Supervisor

Compensation: $30.76 per hour

Work Schedule: Up to 24 hours per week
