Position Overview
The University of Lethbridge is in search of a dedicated English Language Instructor for a term contract. This role is integral to the English Language Institute, which provides a range of English language programs tailored for both international students and domestic learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging courses, classes, and workshops in accordance with the established curriculum.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans that align with the program framework and departmental guidelines.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on students' assignments, tests, and overall performance.
- Support individual learning needs through various communication methods outside of scheduled class hours.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of course materials.
- Participate in orientation sessions and placement assessments for new students.
- Maintain accurate records related to student attendance, progress, and grading.
- Provide instructional coverage in the absence of colleagues as needed.
- Engage in extracurricular activities organized by the English Language Institute.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
- Attend departmental and university meetings as required.
- Flexibility to teach evening or online classes may be necessary.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, with a preference for a graduate degree in TESOL, Linguistics, Education, or a related field. A valid TESL Canada Professional Certificate Standard One or its equivalent is mandatory.
Compensation
The starting salary for this position is competitive, with a full salary range available for qualified candidates.
