Home Trust Company is seeking a skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our mortgage lending process.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess mortgage applications and make prudent credit decisions on complex files
- Review and analyze mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, and risk, ensuring compliance with Home Trust Company's underwriting policies and procedures
- Adhere to applicable compliance obligations, including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing, and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements
- Negotiate loan terms to meet the interests of clients and Home Trust's risk tolerance
- Prepare and issue conditional mortgage commitments outlining all conditions that must be met to Home Trust's satisfaction
- Post-secondary degree or diploma required (University degree preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in mortgage lending (5+ years for Senior)
- Strong understanding of residential mortgage products and proficient in adjudicating credit
- Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
