Job Summary

PCL Construction is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Student to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a student in a civil engineering related field, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a construction environment and contribute to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections and deficiency walks to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-trade work to ensure timely completion and quality results.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Take and coordinate progress photos to track site progress.
  • Track site progress and deficiencies to ensure timely completion.
  • Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate, mark up, and update drawings to reflect site changes.
  • Coordinate work-specific scope and trades to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Conduct trade quote reviews to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
  • Input and update deficiency logs to track site issues.
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure effective communication.
  • Perform quantity take-offs to ensure accurate material estimates.
  • Produce as-built drawings to document site changes.
  • Set up and maintain record-keeping systems to track project progress.
Qualifications
  • Working towards a degree or diploma in a civil engineering related field.
  • A passion for working in a construction environment.
  • Experience with computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and drafting.
  • Self-motivation with a hands-on approach.
  • Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
