Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at PHSA. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing holistic nursing care to oncology patients, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, intervention, and symptom management, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement treatment plans, making adjustments as needed.
- Administer medications, injections, and other treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient reactions and responses.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all interactions, assessments, and interventions.
- Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to established policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, providing education and support to promote patient understanding and empowerment.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and ability to apply it in practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
