We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Perinatal Unit as a Perinatal Nurse Specialist. In this role, you will provide direct patient care to childbearing patients and their families during the intra, postpartum and high-risk antepartum periods.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients and unborn babies on admission and at regular intervals, allocating them to appropriate care areas within the Maternal Program.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and the inter-professional care team to develop, implement, and modify optimal patient and unborn baby care plans, establishing a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect.
- Participate in care and discharge planning processes, ensuring care plans are established and implemented effectively, and collaborating with the inter-professional care team to ensure comprehensive care planning and delivery.
- Coordinate nursing care for patients, making referrals to the inter-professional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
- Teach patients and families about health promotion, focusing on pregnancy conditions, birth experiences, postpartum care, newborn care, and parenting.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year's recent, related clinical perinatal nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate basic coursework and/or certification in perinatal nursing applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Current Basic Rescuer (Level C) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Certificates.
