Senior School Field Hockey Coach

Part-time, Fixed-term Contract

We are currently looking for field hockey coaches to become part of the Senior School Athletics team. In this role, you will collaborate with the Program Coordinator for Athletics to ensure the safety and well-being of the students entrusted to your care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct weekly training sessions for students, scheduled Monday to Thursday after school (3:30 - 5:00 pm)
  • Serve as the primary supervisor for students during practices and competitions
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to student-athletes
  • Foster and enhance the leadership skills of students
  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all guidelines outlined in the Crofton House School Athletic Coaches Handbook
  • Confirm practice, league, and tournament schedules
  • Collaborate with the teacher sponsor on athlete selection for the final team roster and competition lineup
  • Register for competitions and finalize team rosters with BC School Sports prior to deadlines
  • Submit a list for early dismissals for the season to the Program Coordinator before the first league game
  • Complete the 'Coach Postseason Wrap-Up' document and 'Athlete Survey' for the Program Coordinator at the end of the season
  • Maintain open lines of communication with school administration and parents of field hockey students
  • Keep accurate attendance records for student meetings
  • Be available for meetings with the Athletic Coordinator to discuss progress and future plans
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times
  • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Crofton House School
  • Participate in school-initiated training as required
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • 1 - 3 years of coaching experience in field hockey
  • Strong understanding of the technical, tactical, and physical aspects of field hockey
  • Awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women
  • Commitment to professional practice standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
