Job Summary:

Crofton House School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Hockey Coach to join our Senior School Athletics team. As an Athletic Coach, you will work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator, Athletics, Senior School, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students in your care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver weekly training sessions to students, Monday to Thursday after school, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Act as primary supervisor for students during weekly practices and games/tournaments.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to students to enhance their field hockey skills.
  • Support and develop the leadership abilities of students.
  • Read, understand, and observe all processes and procedures outlined in the Crofton House School Athletic Coaches Handbook.
  • Confirm practice, league, and tournament schedules.
  • Receive input from teacher sponsors, if applicable, on decisions related to athlete selection for the final team roster and competition lineup.
  • Register for competitions and confirm team rosters with BC School Sports two weeks prior to the deadline.
  • Submit an early dismissal list for the season to the Program Coordinator, Athletics, prior to the first league game.
  • Complete the 'Coach Postseason Wrap-Up' document and 'Athlete Survey' to the Program Coordinator, Athletics at the end of the season.
  • Maintain open communication with school administration and parents of field hockey students.
  • Maintain accurate meeting attendance records of students.
  • Be available to meet with the Athletic Coordinator to review progress and future plans.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times.
  • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Crofton House School.
  • Participate in school-initiated training when required.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience coaching field hockey.
  • Knowledge of the technical, tactical, and physical elements of field hockey.
  • Demonstrable awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women.
  • Commitment to the standards of professional practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
