About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Hockey Operations at Hollyburn Country Club. As a key member of our Hockey Department, you will be responsible for overseeing all ice user groups, including Minor Hockey, Men's Hockey, Women's Hockey, and hockey programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Management
    • Develop and implement fiscally responsible programming that meets the needs and wants of our Members.
    • Work closely with the Men's Hockey Committee to provide programming and operational support.
  • Coaching and Leadership
    • Supervise and manage coaches for all programs, including hiring, training, and monitoring performance.
    • Lead in-season leadership to coaches, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Manage the minor hockey budget, creating and monitoring financial plans to meet departmental goals.
    • Develop a yearly financial plan for all hockey programs, working towards meeting financial targets.
    • Provide regular updates to the Athletic Director through departmental meetings.
  • Customer Service and Communication
    • Contribute to Hollyburn's Magazine, The View, with programming highlights and recognition of players.
    • Champion regular communication to Members through team, department, or Club Newsletters or notifications.
    • Attend to Member and staff concerns and inquiries related to recreational programs and services.
  • Operations and Development
    • Lead tryouts and team selection for Minor Hockey.
    • Plan, promote, direct, and execute successful events, such as the Christmas 3-on-3 tournament and the Morgan Reilly fundraiser event.
    • Develop and implement summer hockey programs, working closely with the Hockey Coordinator.
    • Ensure ice revenue generation in the Spring through in-house spring teams and programming.
  • Development and Growth
    • Monitor registration and identify opportunities for program growth based on numbers and interest.
    • Grow the number of Members involved with hockey, expanding women's and girls' hockey programs.
    • Conduct post-season reviews of programs, including mid-season planning sessions for adjustments.

You will be a team player who can lead, organize, engage, and train staff effectively. You will have a proven ability to enhance performance through effective delegation, goal setting, coaching, empowerment, and recognition.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated effective planning, supervisory, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including word and excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work without supervision and use personal initiative to improve efficiency and meet challenges within the Hockey Department.
  • Must dress in accordance with agreed-upon Club dress code.
  • A team player who can lead, organize, engage, and train staff effectively.
  • Experience in administration of recreational activities.
  • Proven ability to enhance performance through effective delegation, goal setting, coaching, empowerment, and recognition.
  • High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
