Job Title: Senior Accessibility and Equity Specialist

Foiling the barriers to accessibility is a top priority for Foilcon. We're seeking a seasoned Senior Accessibility and Equity Specialist to lead our accessibility efforts and ensure our digital presence is inclusive and accessible to all.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and interpersonal skills. As a Senior Accessibility and Equity Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading accessibility initiatives under our multi-year accessibility plan
  • Managing initiatives, progress reports, and budgets
  • Working with internal stakeholders, external partners, and networks to develop a sound understanding of our culture and opportunities for growth
  • Providing quality assurance and user experience design expertise to internal stakeholders
  • Maintaining ongoing liaison with cyber security staff and senior client ministry program management
  • Leading and/or carrying out large-scale and sensitive projects with accessibility design elements
  • Demonstrating communication, consultative, and advisory skills to act as the lead accessibility resource
Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing accessibility strategies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry best practices
  • Providing expertise on accessibility principles and internationally recognized guidelines
  • Assessing accessibility needs and assisting asset custodians in the identification, design, and implementation of accessibility solutions
  • Leading and/or carrying out large-scale and sensitive projects with accessibility design elements
  • Providing supervision/technical direction to teams and coordinating the development of design specifications
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of accessibility principles and internationally recognized guidelines
  • Experience in the analysis, development, design, testing, and implementation of websites
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing, including screen readers
  • Excellent communication, consultative, and advisory skills
  • Experience in project management and leading large-scale and sensitive projects
