About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Equity Recruitment Specialist. This is a senior leadership role that will play a key part in shaping our student recruitment strategy and ensuring that we are attracting and retaining a diverse and inclusive student body.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership to our student recruitment team, ensuring that they are equipped to represent the university and promote our values of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  2. Develop and implement equity-based recruitment initiatives, working closely with our communications team and divisional colleagues to create engaging and effective presentations.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with equity stakeholders, both internally and externally, to promote the university's commitment to EDI and support student recruitment efforts.
  4. Provide input into our strategic planning process, preparing recruitment-related data for review by the Director.
  5. Collaborate with the DUA, Indigenous Initiatives Office, and First Nations House to develop and implement plans for student recruitment, ensuring that we are meeting our EDI goals.
  6. Serve as the primary point of contact for departmental inquiries on EDI student recruitment matters, providing guidance and support as needed.
  7. Represent the university on various committees and task forces related to EDI, supporting the activation of EDI work led by other partner offices.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree (preferably from the University of Toronto) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least ten years of recruitment experience, with a thorough and extensive knowledge of the educational system at all levels.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of EDI principles, with a proven track record of promoting diversity, access, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to upholding the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a strong understanding of related issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
