Job Title: Program Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Program Specialist to join our team at the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. As a Program Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Pay Equity Office in its mission to reduce gender-based pay discrimination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis on pay equity and gender wage gap issues, identifying trends and developments affecting employment standards and labor relations.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relations with relevant organizations and ministries, building partnerships to advance pay equity.
  • Prepare reports, briefing materials, and other documents to support policy development and implementation.
  • Support the executive office in strategic and operational policy development activities, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Implement a communications strategy to ensure the website is updated and communication materials are current, promoting pay equity awareness and education.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to assess trends, interpret statistical data, and identify contentious issues.
  • Excellent project management skills, knowledge of research methodologies, and practices to develop and coordinate studies, data collection, and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret and apply the Pay Equity Act and related labor, employment, and human rights legislation and tribunal decisions.
  • Strong communication, consultation, and advisory skills to collaborate with other ministries on complex and sensitive policy and program implementation matters.
  • Proficiency in using computer software applications, such as Microsoft Office, to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
