Position Overview:

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer, Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer, Intermediate River Engineer, or Civil Engineer with expertise in Water Resources to become a vital part of our Water Resources Engineering Group in the Prairies and North Region.

This group is dedicated to delivering a wide range of hydrology and hydrotechnical civil engineering services for numerous prominent projects across Canada and internationally. As a member of this interdisciplinary team, you will apply engineering principles to facilitate various water resources assessments and civil construction initiatives. Your role will also encompass providing leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise in water resources, civil engineering, and environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or assist in water resources projects, including flood assessments, mapping, mitigation designs, hydrotechnical evaluations, watershed management, impact assessments, natural channel design, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for various projects, including the design of hydraulic structures and water control systems.
  • Engage in open-channel hydraulics and hydrologic modeling.
  • Participate in diverse water resources engineering projects from proposal through execution stages.
  • Provide engineering support for cost estimates, specifications, and contract documentation during construction.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and scope modifications effectively.
  • Prepare proposals and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Act as a health and safety advocate while representing WSP.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Eligibility for immediate registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in surface water resources engineering.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Experience with dams and hydraulic structures; mine water management experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge in open-channel hydraulics, river engineering, erosion control, and scour analysis.
  • Experience with technical specifications, design drawings, tender preparation, and construction oversight.
  • Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources.
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities.
