Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Victim Support Worker to join our team. This is a part-time position, with the potential to increase to full-time regular hours, reporting to the Manager of Victim Services. The successful candidate will be embedded with the Vancouver Police Department in the Sex Crimes Unit, providing specialized services to women who are victims of violence and trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis intervention and support services to victims of violence and trauma
  • Collaborate with the Vancouver Police Department and other community agencies to ensure a comprehensive response to victim needs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance service delivery and promote victim-centered practices
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in victim support and trauma-informed care

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or relevant Bachelor of Arts degree from a recognized accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting and advocating for survivors of gender-based violence
  • Knowledge of Provincial Policy on Violence Against Women in Relationships (VAWIR) and dynamics of violence in intimate relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity while working with sensitive and traumatic information
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
