This position entails overseeing the execution of training initiatives and related activities within the community, as mandated by the Training and Inuit Success Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the coordination of the Work Ready Program (WRP) and Employment and Training Information Sessions (ETIS). The role involves organizing local logistics for events, registering participants, ensuring smooth operation of activities, documenting training sessions, generating periodic reports, and tracking expenditures.

*The ideal candidate should reside in Clyde River, Nunavut*

Key Responsibilities

• Training Program Coordination:

  1. Facilitate the organization of Work Ready Program (WRP) training sessions in the community, whether conducted in-person or virtually.
  2. Assist in coordinating quarterly Employment and Training Information Session (ETIS) tours across the designated hiring points.
  3. Support training initiatives (including WRP and ETIS) by managing registrations, completing necessary documentation, capturing event photos, and more.
  4. Collaborate with Baffinland Community Liaison Officers (BCLOs) to promote upcoming events, manage logistics, and ensure adequate participant turnout.
  5. Assist in the development of new training initiatives funded by Baffinland for the Inuit community, such as adult education, driver training, and financial literacy programs.
  6. Support new site-based employees or contractors in their training requirements prior to site arrival, including onboarding e-learning modules.
  7. Assist existing site-based employees or contractors seeking additional training, such as the Pathways to Adult Secondary School (PASS) program or driver training.
  8. Engage with Nunavut Arctic Colleges (NAC) and other educational institutions to stay informed about their training offerings.

• Logistics and Procurement Coordination:

  1. Assist in arranging all logistical requirements for each training program (e.g., ETIS, WRP), including transportation for trainers and participants, venue selection, catering, and accommodation.
  2. Coordinate with the Oakville-based Training Program Coordinator and Communications Department to ensure effective promotion of events through various media channels.

• Training Schedule Development:

  1. Work alongside the Training Program Coordinator to plan the scheduling of in-community WRP, ETIS, and other training initiatives throughout the year, in alignment with the Inuit Impact Benefits Agreement (IIBA) commitments.

• Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Collect, document, and report on all training data related to Inuit Success training programs.
  2. Prepare monthly training reports that analyze previous activities and summarize details of upcoming initiatives.
  3. Enhance trackers and reporting tools for training as necessary.

• Financial Administrative Support:

  1. Assist in obtaining quotes and invoices from vendors involved in training activities.
Qualifications
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, and related software.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including community members and government agencies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Nunavut Land Claims Beneficiary status and a deep understanding of Inuit culture is an advantage.
  • A high school diploma is required; a diploma from a vocational institution or college is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
